Keisuke Matsuda

Keisuke Matsuda was born in Gunma Prefecture in 1984 and currently lives in Kyoto Prefecture. In 2009, he completed the Painting program at the Graduate School of Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts. Matsuda says, “I try to make paintings that exist before the intention to arrive at a result.” When the reality before him feels identical to the words in his mind, he says, an image arises before he becomes consciously aware of it. Rather than rendering that image as something retinal, he seeks to make paintings in which the image itself becomes bodily movement and intention.
